THERE'S MORE KNOWLEDGE IN YOUTUBE
#5Fact Series
|By Christian Dale Faustino
Everybody loves YouTube. From music videos, movies, trailers, reviews and even just random clips, we rely on it as our online video index. In fact, by subscribing to different channels on their, you’ll definitely feel as if you’re having your own television experience on the internet. There’s just too much to explore on the site.
As much as we love YouTube, we also can’t resist learning. There are so many mysteries in this world that we always wanted to understand– so many that even our entire life time would fail to give us the knowledge we crave for. With our taste for video search engine and yearning for education, 5Fact is here to give you a list of YouTube channels you can subscribe to for you to maximize learning while surfing!
DISCLAIMER: This is just a list of suggestions and not a countdown. I have no intention of comparing channels to one another. This article is also not a form of advertisement.
1) Vsauce

If you demand a good explanation to every mind-blowing question, this one’s for you! Actually there’s a lot of geek channels scattered across YouTube wherein you’ll actually learn and have fun. However, when it comes to the quality of fact delivery and simplicity of language, this channel is the choice.
You will certainly love how the host, Michael Stevens, finds the answers to the most absurd yet the most mysterious questions of all time like, “Why Don’t We Taxidermy Humans?”, and “Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?” Normally, those questions will leave you asking “Does that even make sense?”, but as you carry on the videos, you will eventually learn butt loads of things you have not even heard of before.

Love quickies? Have no time to watch clips that are too long and boring? Well this channel is definitely what you are looking for!
The name explains it all, right? If you’re a fan of science (but actually, you can relate to the videos even if you’re not), you would really adore the explanations about “How to Count Infinity”, “How to Break the Speed of Light” and why “The Order of Operations is Wrong”. The videos also answer practical questions like “Is it Better to Walk or Run in the Rain?” and “Why is the Sky Blue?”
Quick explanations do not mean incomplete delivery of details. You’ll even be surprised on how the host could answer questions in mere ten seconds. It’s like a Wikipedia article compressed into 5 sentences!

Edu-tainment, as Matthew Patrick, the host of Game Theory, names the term. Actually, there are three gaming shows on this channel that you may follow, but I’ll only focus on the main star of the channel.
That is GAME THEORY hosted by Matthew Patrick (or MatPat) that discusses connections and relations of video games in real life. He seriously explains the most intriguing questions and controversies in gaming like, “Who Killed Aerith?”, “Chrono Trigger Retells the Bible”, “How to Survive the Assassin’s Creed Leap of Faith” and many more. You’ll really be amazed on how you can relate to this guy’s theories on video games.
If your hobby is overanalyzing your childhood video game characters and plots, then this channel is here to give you a treat! “But hey, that’s just a theory, A GAME THEORY!”

No guys, don’t be misled by the “hacker” part. This channel has nothing to do with computer programming or anything related to technological crimes. Do you remember anything about simple life hacks and tricks like making an improvised compass or a homemade glowstick? That’s what this show is really all about.
Life is easy only if you have the wits to make it so. I admit some of this guy’s experiments are absurd; still there’s a lot to learn! How can you make pieces of dry ice from a fire extinguisher? How do you correctly peel a banana? How do you slice a watermelon so that when you eat it, you won’t mess your face up? If you are still troubled with these questions, then the Crazy Russian Hacker is the one to consult!
He only has one constant reminder whenever you do experiments: “Safety is number one priority”.

A good countdown always gives relief at the end of the every day!
There are lots of countdown channels on YouTube, so why BuzzFeed Videos? Well, I personally love AllTime10’s as well and WatchMojo, but BFV is just way cooler. (I write and you complain; just wait for the next 5fact to see if your comments made a change!)
This is another “quickie” for those who don’t have much time for lengthy explanations (cough, Vsauce, cough). BuzzFeed Videos offers you bits of facts enough to give your hungry brain some snack. A doze of it on a day will surely keep dumbness away!
BuzzFeed doesn’t actually fall in the “countdown” genre. Like this segment, it’s more focused on listing facts about random ideas. See for yourself. You might just enjoy it!
